From a backyard pharmacy in Atlanta, Georgia, to 200+ countries — the story of Coca-Cola is the story of the world.
On May 8, 1886, pharmacist Dr. John Pemberton created a distinctive tasting soft drink in his home in Atlanta, Georgia. He carried a jug of the new product down the street to Jacobs' Pharmacy, where it was sampled, pronounced "excellent," and placed on sale for five cents a glass.
The name "Coca-Cola" was suggested by Pemberton's bookkeeper, Frank Robinson, who also penned the famous script logo in his own handwriting — the same one we know today, unchanged.
